Last week, The Mindful Morning was nominated and awarded the Liebster blogging award. I'm so humbled and grateful to have been nominated by the lovely Vanessa from Becomingness to receive this.
It's my very first award after a few months of blogging, so it's very exciting news indeed!
The Liebster award is all about building recognition for up and coming bloggers. A part of receiving the award involves the nominated blogger to answer 10 questions from the person that nominated them. In addition, I also have to nominate 10 bloggers to pass the award onto as well.
So here are my answers to Vanessa's amazing questions!
What inspired you to start your blog?
I created my blog because I felt a pull towards sharing my own experience and journey on mindfulness and holistic health.
18 months before I started blogging, I had experienced a transition in my life which encouraged me to explore my own spirituality. From this, I followed my intuition when it came to writing the blog. It was a chance for me to explore these topics further, to write from an intuitive space, and hopefully connect people to their own awareness.
Do you prefer the beach or the snow?
I love the beach. There is something so grounding about being near the water. And I love watching waves crash along the shoreline - it is so energetically powerful.
What is your favourite band or artist?
I have so many so it's very difficult to choose one! I love the Decemberists, PJ Harvey, Joanna Newsom, Death Cab For Cutie and Sufjan Stevens.
What skill would you like to learn?
I would love to learn how to knit. My mum knitted me a beautiful oatmeal coloured scarf - I wish I could do that!
Where was the last place that you traveled to?
Last year, I went to Thailand. I went to a wellness retreat there called Kamalaya (you can read about my experience here). It was probably one of the best things I did for myself.
What do you like to do to pamper yourself?
At night, I love lighting a candle and sitting with a cup of tea. It's such a peaceful way to settle into the stillness of the night.
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
Early bird! Although, I have been indulging with hibernating lately since it has been so cold.
Who is your idol?
I love Danielle La Porte. This woman is absolutely amazing - she is the epitome of the divine feminine to me. I absolutely loved The Desire Map (affiliate link) - this amazing workbook completely changed the direction I was heading in. I now make my decisions from a heart centred space and based on my core desired feelings.
What is your favourite childhood memory?
When I was little, I would play a rather horrific game with my friends based on the terrifying film Return to Oz. We would re-enact the scariest scenes from the film and each of us would take turns to be the main character, Dorothy, while the others would take the role of the Wheelers or the headless witch. Does anyone else remember this film too?
What is your favourite quote or affirmation?
What if today, we were just grateful for everything? - Charles Shulz
And here are my nominees for the Liebster Blogging Award!
Nikki from Nikki de Vet
Jenny from Jenny Orenstein | Life in Full Flight
Jinny from Something Peach
Tara from Feed Me

And Here are my questions
What is the perfect way to spend Sunday?
What is your favourite morning ritual?
What is your favourite night ritual?
Coffee or tea?
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
What lights you up and brings you joy?
What is the matra / quote / affirmation that you live by?
What is your favourite way to move your body?
What is your intention for this year?
What do you cook for someone you love?
There you go ladies - I'm so looking forward to seeing your responses to these questions! And thank you again to Vanessa from Becomingness for the nomination - I am so very grateful for this!
Overall, this award has made me reflect on my blogging journey thus far. It has really been such a wonderful experience. I never imagined that blogging would be such a cathartic way for expressing myself from a spiritual and creative perspective.
The writing process has helped me explore my own philosophy, to open myself up to feeling vulnerable and being ok with imperfection.
